Episode 393: Confrontation
Joe drops the gun, takes a look at the unknown man, and says, "I'm Joe Prantera. The gun for hire. You might have heard of me. I'm here to see my family in town. You might not want to disappoint them."
The man chuckles and says, "Welcome home. We've been expecting you. So has Big Louis. The taxi driver is his man."He puts the gun away and says, "I'm Chris. Go ahead and pick up your gun. I just didn't want you to shoot first and ask questions later."
Joe was rather surprised to hear that. He thought Big Louis was local to Chicago. He didn't know Big Louis could reach down to Louisiana.
They left the taxi where it was and drove off in Chris' car. "You are a wanted man. Dead or alive! Plus Big Louis now has a contract for your head, literally."
Chris circles the outskirt of the town. Finally, he stops the car at a very small single family home, not too far off from the swamp. Its white paint looks a little run down, but otherwise, the structure is well maintained. Chris explains, "it's a safe house." He opens the door and leads Joe into the house.
"We'll get cleaned up here and have a rest. Our Cajun Mafia Family will send for us."
Not long after they cleaned up, a loud knock came at the door. Chris and Joe looked at each other with curiosity. Each of them quickly pull their gun out and took a stance by the door.
Chris looks through the peep-hole. A pizza delivery guy stands outside the door. Chris cries out, "Who is it?"
"Pizza delivery!"
"We didn't order any pizza. You got the wrong place."
"Are you sure? It's a supreme. Look!" The pizza boy starts to open the pizza box to show.
But Chris got a glimpse of gleaming black, before the pizza boy pulled out a Uzi. Chris immediately raised his gun and shot the pizza boy in the head through the door. More shots ring out in the distance as both Chris and Joe dropped to the floor. No sooner then hitting the floor, the door and walls were covered in bullet holes. More shots ringed out from a distance . . .
